Cookie Policy

1. What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser. We use two of our own (language, and a referral code when you arrive through an invite link), our sign-in provider Clerk sets the ones that keep you logged in, and one monitoring cookie is set only in production and only after you click Accept in the cookie banner. Everything else we remember about you lives in your browser's local storage and IndexedDB, not in cookies (section 6).

2. Cookies We Use, by Name

userLanguage
Set by us for one year so the page is served in the language you chose. Functional.
lb_ref
Set by us only when you open an invite link (?ref=). HttpOnly, 30 days or until the referral is applied to your account, whichever comes first. Functional.
__session, __client_uat, __clerk_*
Set by Clerk, our sign-in provider, to keep you signed in and to protect the sign-in redirects. Their lifetime is controlled by Clerk. Essential — you cannot opt out of these while using the Service.
_dd_s
Set by Datadog Real User Monitoring on tt-lossbeater.com, production only and only after you click Accept. It identifies a browsing session for at most 4 hours and expires after 15 minutes of inactivity. Analytics.

Nothing else on our domain sets cookies. Notification settings are stored in your account on our servers, not in your browser.

3. Your Choice

On your first visit a banner asks whether we may run analytics and monitoring. Nothing in that category runs until you click Accept; Decline is remembered and the banner does not return. The choice itself is stored in your browser's local storage (cookie-consent-accepted or cookie-consent-declined, with the date), not in a cookie, so it never reaches our servers. There is currently no in-app switch to change it: clear this site's data in your browser and the banner will ask again. Inside the mobile app the banner is not shown and monitoring does not start.

4. Third Parties

Clerk
Authentication session management, on our domain.
Datadog (monitoring)
After you accept, and only on the production site, we load Datadog Real User Monitoring. It records page loads, errors, slow requests and your clicks, and for roughly 1 in 5 accepted sessions a replay of the screen in which every input field is masked. It sets the _dd_s cookie described above and sends data to Datadog's EU region. Declining in the banner keeps it off entirely.
PremiumPay & PayPal (payments)
We do not embed their scripts. When you pay you are sent to their own checkout page, and any cookies set there belong to their domain and their cookie policy, not to tt-lossbeater.com.

We do not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels from ad networks.

5. Our Own Usage Analytics

When you accept, the site also sends us small events (which page you opened, which feature you used, when) in batches through our own servers — no cookie and no third party involved. Each event carries your account id if you are signed in and “anon” otherwise, is limited to a name, the page path, a timestamp and up to six short labels, and is deleted automatically after 90 days. We do not record your IP address, browser or screen size in these events. This data is not anonymous while it exists; it is tied to your account. We do not sell or share it with advertisers.

6. Local Storage, IndexedDB and Session Storage

Local storage
Your cookie choice with its date, language and time zone, theme, the prediction model selected on the matches page, filter and compare settings, your bet-management sheet, chat drafts, sidebar state, a pending PayPal subscription reference while a payment is confirmed, and short-lived caches of league counts.
IndexedDB
A database named lossbeater-store with cached leagues, players and matches, and your favourites list and filters, so pages open without re-downloading everything. It is a cache: clearing it costs nothing but a reload.
Session storage
Cleared when the tab closes. The sign-up page remembers that you ticked the age and terms boxes, plus two technical flags used to recover from failed page loads.

None of this leaves your device unless you sign in and the feature syncs with your account (favourites, for example, are also stored on our servers).

7. Managing Cookies

You can manage or delete cookies through your browser settings. Deleting Clerk's cookies signs you out; blocking them prevents sign-in. Blocking third-party cookies in your browser does not affect _dd_s, because it is set on our own domain — use the banner (Decline) or clear this site's data instead. Most browsers allow you to:

  • View and delete individual cookies
  • Block cookies from specific sites
  • Block all third-party cookies
  • Clear all cookies when you close your browser

8. Changes to This Policy

When we add or remove a cookie or a browser-storage key we update the list above and the date at the top of this page. Material changes to what analytics collect will be announced in the banner again.
